The initial design
The client engaged West Coatings looking for a solution to install a protective waterproofing solution to remediate the deck deterioration of their parking structure. We working closely with management, ownership, product suppliers and the manufacturer to provide a detailed solution that would be ideal for the deck given the condition and local environment. The client selected a natural grey color to match the surrounding buildings and provided continuity of color scheme.

The product
The elements in Salt Lake City can be harsh and it is imperative the correct products were installed to ensure longevity of the coatings system. Many factors were considered:
- 3-layer multi-phase application w/ non-slip components
- Joint and overlay system to seal for water intrusion
- Striping package to match existing numbering and locations
- Heavy aggregate application to provide non-slip finish
The project
Due to the height and location of the building our team prepared accordingly to ensure our safety and logistics were planned in detail to include:
- Multi-stage project phasing to maintain access to partial deck areas during construction
- Equipment positioning and storage locations
- Safety assurance and oversight of the equipment operators and painting crews
- Weather tracking to ensure safety and product assurance
- Phase planning and coordination with our team on a weekly basis
